The inexhaustible Karl Lagerfeld?s latest project is a line of glassware for Swedish crystal company Orrefors. The collection of hand-blown stemware follows similarly off-piste work for Diet Coke, Magnum, Atelier Swarovski and Volkswagen.
Some observers have dared to question the Chanel maestro?s wide-ranging design dabbles, and Lagerfeld answered their criticism in an interview with Architectural Digest.�
?I can do whatever I want. Exclusivit� is very d�mod�,? he said. Crisp, uncompromising and more than a little haughty?classic Karl.
Lagerfeld explained that the collaboration came about because he wanted to design ?glasses for my houses?. Consistent with his approach to interior d�cor, the 16-piece line consists of solely clear, black or opaque white designs. ?I am a black-and-white person,? he said. ?Black-and-white always looks modern, whatever that word means.?
Plus, as he describes in the video below, ?The white glass is like a freestanding geometrical cloud.? We couldn?t put it better ourselves?
