X Factor eliminations!

Monday 10 October 2011

After weeks and weeks of auditions we finally saw the first of the X Factor live shows this weekend and what a show it was.

Some were better than others, like always, but in a surprise twist we saw four contestants leave on Sunday night instead of the normal one. It proved some very tense viewing?

The X Factor producers love a good bit of controversy and they certainly succeeded when they announced that each judge had to get rid of one of their acts ? with no public vote!

It wasn?t easy for any of the judging panel, especially Tulisa and Kelly who became very emotional when revealing their choice.

First up was Louis Walsh. His four acts include Johnny Robinson who sang the Cher classic Believe in a metallic trench coat and sunglasses to match. Camp fun at its very best. Kitty sung her heart out to Queen?s Who Wants To Live Forever while audience favourite Sammi Brookes nicknamed ?the voice? belted out a rendition of Free. Jonjo Kerr sang a shaky version of You Really Got Me which received negative comments from the judges and was the performance that saw him get booted off by Louis.

As the soldier told Dermot 'I could have done better' Louis chipped in with a contrived-sounding: 'I changed my mind twice as well today.'

Next up was Gary Barlow with the boys ? all of whom got positive comments from the judges on their performances. The first boy he put through was Marcus Collins, followed by Craig Colton, who the Take That singer said had given the best performance last night.

The judge continued: 'I've really based this on last night, I found last night very useful'

'There are only four left we're at such a high level here,' he added.

He then continued with his decision and opted to put heartthrob Frankie Cocossa through, leaving James Michael, who sung a version of the Beatles classic Ticket To Ride crying his eyes out as he left the stage and the show.

Dermot asked him how he felt, but the singer was unable to speak, and with tears streaming down his face said: 'I'm just going to cry.'

Tulisa was up next, she said:
'I've spent the last 24 hours crying tears, tearing my hear out. You're my friends, I can honestly say that.'

She continued through teary eyes to put through Rythmix, The risk and then lastly Nu Vibe, who she said was disappointing but believes they have a lot of potential. That left fun-loving Essex girl group 2 Shoes who left in high spirits.

Tulisa started to cry along with her act as the girls' performances were shown on screen.

She told them: 'I can't even find a reason why, but I had to pick an act. I swear I want to stay in touch with you.'

Destiny?s child star Kelly Rowland was up next. She said: 'This was so touch of a decision to make? before putting Janet Devlin and Mischa B through to her final three.

Before she revealed her final choice she broke down in tears, telling the last two: 'I want you both to know that you are such stars.'

But 16-year-old Amelia Lily, who opened last night's show with a sensational performance of Billie Jean, was eliminated, with Sophie Habibis, who performed Katy Perry's Teenage Dream through to the next round.

The 16-year-old was devastated and couldn?t even speak when Dermot asked her how she was feeling.

A very tense and emotional show ? do you think the right people went?

Bring on next week!
