Provital S.A. sourced the leaves of an artichoke to create an active that protects hair from external aggressors. Keracyn (INCI: Not Provided) is said to prevent the opening of the cuticle scales and preserve the integrity and health of the hair fiber.
Throughout the day the hair is exposed to many external aggressions. The cuticle, which forms a protective coating for hair, can be disrupted by these stressors causing damage to the inner proteins and lipids leading to dull compromised hair.
The artichoke leaves from which the active is derived are reportedly rich in hydroxycinnamic derivatives, which are known to have antioxidant properties. The active was demonstrated ex vivo to protect proteins and lipids. It is said to maintain hair shine and color and can be used on any hair type. According to the company, the active makes hair more resistant to damage and easier to manage. It can be formulated into a variety of hair care formulations.
