LFW Round-up: The Lucky Seven

By Emily Cronin | Posted: Wed 21 Sep 2011

As the international editors and buyers move on to Milan, we take a look back at some of our favourite London shows.

The whirlwind has settled, the Topshop signs outside of the old Eurostar terminal have been dismantled and the Somerset House exhibitors are packing their wares.

It?s hard to believe that the catalyst for months of build-up and anticipation has passed. Luckily, we?ve got a Catwalk channel filled with reviews, collection photos and videos to revisit over the coming season. And what a season it was, characterised by inspiration, innovation and jaw-dropping shows.

?I arrived straight from New York Fashion Week where notable highlights were Proenza Schouler, Rodarte and Brits-in-residence Preen and Victoria Beckham. But London fizzed with excitement throughout,? ELLEuk.com Carrie Gorman said.

?The American press, primarily in town for Burberry and Tom Ford, found a wealth of fresh ideas and slick production from designers who are still wrongly lumped under the New Talent bracket. Next season is bound to see London?s influence on a global scale but of course by then, we?ll be on to something new. Catch us if you can.?

We?ve selected seven top shows of the season, listed below in schedule order (we wouldn?t want to choose favourites among favourites). Click and dream...

JW Anderson, for Navajo and paisley elements that looked like the freshest school uniform yet.

Acne, for Marrakesh-wear as seen through a cool Swedish lens?with the best shoes of the season, to boot.

Peter Pilotto, for an abstracted take on Indonesia and ocean forms.

Christopher Kane, for origami silks, light-as-air floral appliqus and shower shoes that made all those heels look tawdry.

Burberry Prorsum, for heritage craftsmanship with hot-ticket atmosphere.

Giles, for silver swans (and white, black and red varieties) that glided like a dream across the Royal Courts of Justice atrium.

Meadham Kirchhoff, for a madcap fest of twisted girlhood and spangled knickerbockers.
